How to Write Answers That Score Full Marks in Class 10 Maths and Science
GyanSanchar · 2 Nov 2026

In the board exam, the examiner reads hundreds of answer sheets. Clear, well-organised answers earn marks easily. Messy or incomplete ones lose them, even when the final answer is correct.
Mathematics
Write the formula first. Then substitute the values.
Show every step. Marks are given for the method, so a wrong final answer may still score well.
Draw figures with a pencil and a ruler, and label every point.
Give units and a final statement, such as "Hence, the area is 154 cm²".
Do not cut or overwrite. Strike through a mistake with one neat line.
Science: Physics
Write the given data and what is to be found.
Write the formula, then the substitution and the answer with units.
Draw ray and circuit diagrams with arrows, labels and a ruler.
Science: Chemistry
Write balanced chemical equations with state symbols and conditions where needed.
For observations, write what you see, such as colour, gas or precipitate.
Use correct names and symbols.
Science: Biology
Draw large, neat diagrams with labelled parts and lines that touch the part.
Answer in points, with the key terms underlined.
Match the length of your answer to the marks.
General tips
Read the entire paper in the reading time and plan your order.
Number your answers exactly as in the question paper.
Leave a little space between answers.
Keep the last 10 minutes for review.
Practice writing, not just solving
Solve at least a few full papers in exam conditions and compare your answers with the marking scheme. Notice where the scheme gives marks, and copy that style.
