ICSE Class 10 Science: How to Study Physics, Chemistry and Biology

GyanSanchar · 28 Oct 2026

In ICSE, Physics, Chemistry and Biology are separate subjects with their own papers. That means three syllabuses to cover, three sets of diagrams and numerical, and three revision plans. A simple weekly routine keeps all of them on track.

Physics

  • Understand each law in words first, then write the formula and units.

  • Practice numerical daily in Force, Work, Power and Energy, Light, Current Electricity and Heat. Always show given values, formula, substitution and answer.

  • Learn ray diagrams and circuit diagrams, and draw them neatly.

Chemistry

  • Learn the periodic table trends, with reasons.

  • Practice balanced equations, including conditions, for reactions in the syllabus.

  • Do the mole concept and gas laws numerical regularly. They need a clear method.

  • Learn the laboratory preparation and tests, such as the preparation of gases and the tests for ions.

Biology

  • Learn the diagrams of the cell, the heart, the nephron, the eye, the ear and the reproductive system, with labels.

  • Write answers in points, with the correct terms.

  • Link processes such as photosynthesis, transpiration and respiration in a table to keep them clear.

A weekly routine

Day

Focus

Monday and Thursday

Physics: concept, then numerical

Tuesday and Friday

Chemistry: equations and numerical

Wednesday and Saturday

Biology: reading and diagrams

Sunday

Revision and one timed paper section

Tips for all three

  • Make a one-page summary for each chapter.

  • Solve the last ten years of ICSE papers, subject by subject.

  • Practice writing answers within the time and marks given.

  • Prepare for the internal assessment and practical work too. It adds to your final marks.
