CBSE Class 10 Date Sheet 2027 Is Out: Exam Dates, Gaps Between Papers and the Two-Exam Plan

GyanSanchar · 6 Nov 2026

The date sheet for the 2027 CBSE board examinations is out, and the main Class 10 papers run from 16 February to 9 March 2027. That is only three weeks of exams, and the schedule is tighter than many students expect. Class 10 also has a second board exam now, which changes how you should think about your preparation. This guide covers the dates, the gaps between your core papers and a plan for the weeks ahead.

The dates here are compiled from reports on the published schedule. Please check them against the official notice, "Date Sheet for Class X and Class XII Board Examinations, 2027", on cbse.gov.in, and confirm your own subject codes with your school.

How much time you get between papers

Most students will write the five core papers in this order. The days between them are short, so each gap is a real revision slot.

  • Mathematics to Science: 5 days

  • Science to English: 4 days

  • English to Hindi: 5 days

  • Hindi to Social Science: 5 days

Mathematics comes on the second day, so it is the first big paper. Social Science is the last one, which gives you time to settle the long-answer and map practice at the end.

The two-exam system, explained simply

  • The February to March exam is the main one. Every student appears in it.

  • The second exam is optional. It is meant for students who want to improve a score, and the better result of the two counts. It is expected in May 2027, but wait for the official dates.

  • Do not plan to rely on it. Treat the first exam as the real one, and keep the second as a safety net for the subject where you lose the most marks.

  • Read the CBSE circular. It lists which subjects are open for the second exam and how to register.

A plan from today to 16 February

Now to mid-December

Finish the full syllabus, with NCERT as the base. In Mathematics, practice every chapter with the examples and exercises. In Science, learn diagrams and definitions along with the reasoning. In Social Science, make short notes and practice maps weekly. Start the Mathematics revision first, because it is your first major paper.

Mid-December to January

Switch to timed practice. Solve previous year papers and sample papers, check them against the marking scheme, and note down every repeated mistake. Work on competency-based and case-based questions, which now carry a good share of marks. Complete your internal assessment work and project files on time.

February

Write full papers starting at 10:30 AM, in the same order as the date sheet. Revise subject by subject in the gaps, and use the last day before each paper only for a light read of your notes and formulae.

Do these this week

  • Download the official date sheet and keep a copy on your phone and at your study desk.

  • Mark your subject dates and the four or five days between them.

  • Draw a revision calendar that works backward from 17 February.

  • Ask your school about the dates for internal assessment and any practical work.

  • Keep your admit card instructions handy once it is issued.
